Keep Building
StreamingWhat it’s like to be a developer in 2026, and why the only sane answer is to keep building.

Ground Shift
3:34
Ground shift, hold on tight The whole map changed overnight Learn it fast, get it right Hands on the keys, green light
Woke up to a brand new stack Yesterday’s not coming back Release notes long as my arm Triple shot, sound the alarm Shipped at nine, gone by noon Whole career, June to June Half the toolbox, obsolete New one’s waiting at my feet Some run scared of the pace Me, I live for the chase
Ground shift, hold on tight The whole map changed overnight Learn it fast, get it right Hands on the keys, green light
Green across the board (go) Push it, hit record (go) New ground every single day Wouldn’t have it any other way
Ten new tools dropped Tuesday Half are gone by Thursday Pick the ones that pull their weight Ship the thing, don’t wait Old heads say it’s the end I say press enter, send Change is just the weather now Build umbrellas anyhow Surf the wave or fight the tide Me, I’d rather ride
Every era someone swore The craft would die, be no more Punch cards, mainframes, dot-com dust Still here.. still us The tools will turn to sand The making stays in hand
Ground shift, hold on tight The whole map changed overnight Learn it fast, get it right Hands on the keys, green light
Ground shift, hold on tight The whole map changed overnight Learn it fast, get it right Hands on the keys, green light
Green across the board (go) Push it, hit record (go) New ground every single day Wouldn’t have it any other way
Hold on tight.. green light Hold on tight.. green light New day, same fire Climbing higher

Agents in the Wire
5:16
I used to carry every line alone at midnight Now I sketch the shape and watch the scaffold grow A dozen quiet workers running through the half-light Each one holding pieces that I used to know
I’m not the typist any more, I’m the conductor Every wave of my hand turns to running code
Signal in the system, voices in the stream I say it and it listens, builds me what I mean A hundred hands in motion, working while I sleep An orchestra in code, running fast and deep Still the one who chooses what the night is for Conducting all the agents in the wire
Review is the new writing, judgement is the trade Taste is worth a fortune when the typing’s free I read a thousand lines before my coffee’s made Keep the good, cut the strange, sign it off as me
Trust but verify, that’s the new religion Every green tick earns another mile of road
Signal in the system, voices in the stream I say it and it listens, builds me what I mean A hundred hands in motion, working while I sleep An orchestra in code, running fast and deep Still the one who chooses what the night is for Conducting all the agents in the wire
Do I miss the hours lost inside the weeds.. Sometimes, like you miss a storm when skies are clear But I never miss the drowning, I keep the seeds The craft moved up a level.. the craft is still here
Signal in the system, voices in the stream I say it and it listens, builds me what I mean A hundred hands in motion, working while I sleep An orchestra in code, running fast and deep Still the one who chooses what the night is for Conducting all the agents in the wire
Working while I sleep.. A hundred hands.. and every one is mine

Replace Me
3:56
Read a headline in the morning saying my job is done Some demo built a startup while I microwaved my lunch Every graph says the curve is only pointing one way up And I’m benchmarked in my bedroom by a model in the cloud Little voice in the terminal keeps asking me the same: If it types faster, thinks faster, never sleeps, feels no shame Then what am I here for, decoration on a chart? Cursor blinking at me like a flatlined heart
If the machine writes better than me Tell me, tell me, what’s left for me? Say it.. what’s left for me?
But hold up, rewind, who asked the question first? Who framed the problem, who decided what it’s worth? No model wakes up hungry with a picture in its head Of a thing that doesn’t exist yet, that it has to build instead It answers when I ask it, it aims where I aim The wanting is the engine, and the wanting has my name So maybe I’m not obsolete, maybe I grew hands A thousand new extensions that move at my command
If the machine writes better than me Tell me, tell me, what’s left for me? Say it.. what’s left for me?
Still the fear comes creeping when the layoff stories drop When a kid with one good prompt does a fortnight’s work by three And I catch myself refreshing, comparing, keeping score Measuring my heartbeat against a hundred racks of steel Breathe. The panic isn’t data, the panic is just noise The ones who quit the field were never in it for the joy
(They keep asking if I’m scared of being replaced. Wrong question. The hammer never replaced the carpenter... it replaced his sore hands.)
If the machine writes better than me Tell me, tell me, what’s left for me? Say it.. what’s left for me?
So flip the frame, look again at what I’ve got: The strongest tools in history and one unfinished thought The question isn’t what is left, it’s what will I make first With all this thunder in my hands and all this useful thirst I went digging for an answer where the oldest systems sleep In a folder full of history, twenty winters deep
If the machine writes better than me Tell me, tell me, what’s left for me? Say it.. what’s left for me?
What’s left for me.. Everything I choose to build Everything.. everything

Legacy Code
4:01
There’s a folder on the server that nobody dares to touch Older than the interns, older than the cloud Comments in a dead dialect, variables all in caps Holding up the business like a beam behind a wall
Twenty years of patches, twenty years of weight Every clever shortcut hardened into stone They laugh at the ancient syntax till the invoices go out Written before the hype was born.. and it still runs
New frameworks every season, glittering and loud Half are gone before their docs are even done Fashion moves in circles, gravity does not The flashy floors keep changing.. the foundation stays
I opened up that old file like a letter from the past Some engineer before me, careful with each line No talk in there of glory, just a note that said ‘be kind To whoever reads this after’.. and it still runs
Maybe that’s the secret they don’t print on the slides: Build it like a stranger’s going to live in it one day Write the note, leave the light on, make it plain
So I signed my little note at the bottom of my work For whoever comes behind me when the current tools are dust May it hold you like it held me, may it earn its quiet keep May they laugh at my old syntax.. while it still runs
Closed the folder, cracked my knuckles.. Opened up the feed

Hype Cycle
3:49
Woke up to a thread saying coding’s over, done Forty hot takes deep before the kettle’s even on Everybody’s prophesying, charts up on the screen ‘This changes everything’, the fourth time since fifteen Demo looks like magic till you hold it in your hand Half of it is genius, half is smoke and sand
Round and round, hype cycle Every drop is vital Dead by Friday night Keep your head, hold tight
I used to chase it all, every launch, every drop Ten tutorials open, couldn’t make the scrolling stop Learning nothing deeply, tasting everything at once A jack of every trending thing, a master of not much FOMO is a treadmill with the incline set to max You sprint and sprint and sprint and never gain a metre back
Round and round, hype cycle Every drop is vital Dead by Friday night Keep your head, hold tight
Here’s the filter, took me years to learn to hold: Fundamentals don’t expire, they quietly compound Data, logic, people, shipping, naming things with care The stack will change its clothes again, the body’s always there Pick a thing and go deep, let the surface storms blow past The loud stuff moves the fastest ‘cause it isn’t built to last
Breathe in.. breathe out Not everything deserves the shout
Round and round, hype cycle Every drop is vital Dead by Friday night Keep your head, hold tight
So I muted half the noise and the sky did not cave in Missed a launch on Tuesday, somehow still employed by ten The signal’s in the shipping, not the shouting, not the spin Turned the volume down at midnight.. let the quiet in
Round and round, hype cycle Every drop is vital Dead by Friday night Keep your head, hold tight
Keep your head.. Keep your head, hold tight

Two AM Green
5:23
The house has gone quiet, the street lights are humming One window still burning on our side of town The cursor keeps time like a metronome drumming One test keeps on failing.. I can’t put it down The mug has gone cold and the screen is a lantern The night doesn’t care if I win or I drown
I know what they’d tell me, that sleep is a feature That heroes burn twice and then never again But something in me has to see this thing breathing Has to follow the thread the whole way to the end So I trace it and trace it, one line from the surface Down to one wrong assumption.. and fix it, and then:
And the build goes green at two a.m. No one watching, no one to tell Just a small light saying: it works A quiet answer when the doubt still lurks Nobody has to see it to be true Two a.m. green.. I made you
But hear me, don’t live here, this room isn’t glory The work will still love you at nine in the light I’m learning to leave at the end of the story To bank the small win and to call it a night The badge for exhaustion is rust, not a medal The long game is won by the ones who sleep right
And the build goes green at two a.m. No one watching, no one to tell Just a small light saying: it works A quiet answer when the doubt still lurks Nobody has to see it to be true Two a.m. green.. I made you
The light will still be green when I wake The code doesn’t leave, the code will keep Half of building well is knowing when to stop So I’m closing the lid.. and letting it sleep
And the build goes green at two a.m. No one watching, no one to tell Just a small light saying: it works A quiet answer when the doubt still lurks Nobody has to see it to be true Two a.m. green.. I made you
And in the morning, sure as sunrise.. The itch comes back

The Itch
4:49
Seven years old with a screwdriver, parts from a throwaway pile Half a dead machine on the carpet, mum despairing at the mess Nobody taught me the wanting, it arrived before the words did When it finally beeped and booted, I had never felt so blessed
Thirty years of new machines.. the feeling never aged
It’s the itch, it’s the spark It’s the drawing in the dark It’s the nothing turned to something overnight It’s the very first hello It’s the ‘look at this thing go’ It’s the reason that the screen glow feels like sunlight Call it work if you need to I was making things before they paid me to
They can hand me any toolbox, carbon, silicon or steam Put an agent on my shoulder, put a model in the loop It doesn’t touch the core equation, doesn’t touch the reason I would do this on an island, drawing circuits in the sand
The tools keep on changing.. the itch never did
It’s the itch, it’s the spark It’s the drawing in the dark It’s the nothing turned to something overnight It’s the very first hello It’s the ‘look at this thing go’ It’s the reason that the screen glow feels like sunlight Call it work if you need to I was making things before they paid me to
Joy is not a luxury, joy is the fuel line The ones who last the longest are the ones who love the making Not the title, not the ladder, not the noise The making..
It’s the itch, it’s the spark It’s the drawing in the dark It’s the nothing turned to something overnight It’s the very first hello It’s the ‘look at this thing go’ It’s the reason that the screen glow feels like sunlight Call it work if you need to I was making things before they paid me to
So I build.. So I build

Keep Building
4:24
Every year they write the ending, every year we’re still here Punch cards turned to terminals, terminals to cloud Cloud turned into voices that can build a world beside you And the builders kept on building, heads down, hearts loud
Keep building, when the ground won’t hold Keep building, when the hype runs cold Keep building, through the fear and the fire Hands on the keys, voice in the wire Whatever they invent, whatever they retire The making was always ours
This is for the two a.m. greens and the folders no one touches For the kid with a screwdriver and a scavenged motherboard For everyone who heard the question, ‘what is left for me now?’ And answered with a keystroke: everything, and more
Keep building, when the ground won’t hold Keep building, when the hype runs cold Keep building, through the fear and the fire Hands on the keys, voice in the wire Whatever they invent, whatever they retire The making was always ours
What’s left for me?.. Everything I choose The tools were never the treasure The treasure was the making.. and the making doesn’t move
Mainframes fell, and we built Dot-com burned, and we built Frameworks came like seasons, and we built, we built Ground shift under our feet.. good, we never needed still
Keep building, when the ground won’t hold Keep building, when the hype runs cold Keep building, through the fear and the fire Hands on the keys, voice in the wire Whatever they invent, whatever they retire The making was always ours
Green light.. go Green light.. go Keep building Keep building
